Hello my name is Kristen Berg and my husband’s name is Bryan Berg. We have been married for 8 years. We love family BBQ’s, camping in our cute little trailer, and Disneyland! I work as a nurse and Bryan is a police officer. We love our jobs and the fulfillment they offer but the ultimate fulfillment would be to have children and raise them together. We are planning to do our next IVF cycle next month (October 2024). We have been trying to have a baby for 7 years but do not have any children We have 9 nieces and nephews who we love dearly. We are excited to one day have our children grow up along side them. My best friends growing up were my cousins and I would love for my children to say the same.
I have been able to get pregnant naturally 5 times but unfortunately each time I have miscarried between 6 and 8 weeks.
For the last 3 years we have also been looking into adoption. We were almost able to adopt a precious baby boy but unfortunately he was born stillborn at 7 months. That was really hard because although he was not technically our baby it still felt like another huge loss.
Bryan and I have both gone through extensive testing for recurrent miscarriage and have been to see 3 different fertility doctors. My current doctor, Dr Andrew, was able to diagnosis me with endometriosis. This diagnosis came after about 25 years of having symptoms and multiple other doctors either telling me that wasn’t what it was or that there was nothing they could do about it. Dr. Andrew was able to find this diagnosis and set me up with another doctor to surgically remove the endometriosis. This surgery combined with a few other treatments and medications was able to bring down some inflammatory markers we thought were causing the miscarriages. Because of my increasing age (I turned 39 years old this month), we decided earlier this year to try IVF to see if this would help give us a successful pregnancy. After my egg retrieval we had 3 viable embryos We decided to transfer all 3 at the same time in hopes at least one would take. It worked! We were so happy and felt like we would finally be able to bring home our miracle baby, and we were even hoping it could be triplets! Unfortunately the joy was short lived and we lost the pregnancy at approximately the same gestation as our other 5 losses. We have since done more testing and treatments and I have been doing alot of researching. With Dr. Andrew’s help we have come up with a different treatment plan and are very hopeful this will work. We are planning to do our next egg retrieval in October 2024.
I’m sure you can imagine the amount of money and resources we have gone through trying to bring our children home. We are running very low on funds and we would greatly appreciate any help we can get to make our dreams come true of having a family and raising children. We would be so grateful to be considered for your scholarship. Thank you so much for taking the time to hear our story.
With love,
Bryan and Kristen Berg.
